Antelope Island

Absolutely stunning barren island west of Salt Lake City, great trails for bike riding, hiking or just to drive around and take pics of Antelopes and Bison.

They introduced Bison there beginning of the century and they are thriving!

Took the kids for a hike when there was little breeze to keep the gnats away one morning

Fantastic camping spots

Absolutely stunning sunsets

But… there was a snag in the paradise…

They did warn us… we did not believe.. “oh, what ever we have dealt with gnats/mosquitos/deer flies before..it can not be that bad.. “

We lasted 48h and had to leave, we were eaten alive!

Ian tried to be the man and went for bike ride and ended eating most of them.. but there were more!!! Rhona tried to out run them and nearly did but she stopped to drink water and they got to her! Kaya was brave and trusted that her coat will keep them away and nearly made it with out bites. I went for a hike and had to turn back after they got inside my hood and sun glasses and I could not see where I was going!

We were brave but lost the battle…

Trillion gnats!

We survived and headed up to Park City to see Ian’s Uni mate from Glasgow.

Onwards in few days to Lake Cascade north of Boise
