First week in Canada
It is very much like Finland landscape !!
We crossed the border at Sault Ste. Marie that is just north of Michigan. Were ready for lines and wait times but there was NO ONE!! Straight through!!!!?! We were more than amazed as usually one has to be ready for hours of waiting to get across the border.
Told by campers who usually go across to US of A for the summer, that no one is crossing the border ether way! Businesses that relay on Canadian/US tourists over the summer are struggling or are closed this summer!!!!
Trying not to look too much like Americans on Canada Day 1st of July!!! ha ha
We spend 3 nights in Serpent River Campground, Ontario south coast that was rather boring and nothing to report from except I got screamed at by the camp hostess for taking TWO wrong steps to wrong direction when trying to find the laundry room… ha ha!!! Yes.. her husband came to help and dragged her away… Interesting!!!
Onwards… for a knowledge there are no rest stops on Canada highways.. at least on the hwy 17… and all the Fuel Stations are in town … so do not take off with empty tank!!! As we are in kilometers and kilometers per hour land.. (it can get a bit confusing after crossing the border).. but do not worry you have plenty time to get used to all “new” road stuff as speed limits are very much real and you are not going anywhere fast!!! PS. Highway police is everywhere!! Going from 120kmh to 80kmp speed limits is amusing to say the least! We do love Canada anyway!!
so many Finnish surnames and road signs
Rhona and Kaya are having a blast and everyday is like “Christmas Morning” for them! Tons of hikes, swims, critters to hunt… and nice air-conditioned camper to chill after!!
Parry Sound KOA campground
We are camping out for a week in Parry Sound (about 150 km north of Toronto). Taking in all the amazing trails and nature that this area has to offer. Dogs are truly welcome and seriously everyone is so welcoming and nice here!
