Terra Nova National Park

Driving back north of the island from Harbour Breton we decided that it was time for warm beach days again. Ian found us an amazing spot at Musgrave Harbour. We got the kayak in the water and got some beach running done with Rhona on its endless beaches.
The campground also had a replica of the plane that crashed into Musgrave harbour in 1941. Frederick Banting who co-discovered insulin was unfortunately onboard and died in the crash. There is a memorial for it near by.
Next for us was Terra Nova National Park and 6 nights in fully serviced camp spot.. which means it’s time to clean “the rig” and do some touring. The campground itself is huge.. lot of people come from St. John’s area and leave their campers here over the summer and use the park as their holiday/weekend gate away.
Park has great hiking trail system but not that many places for Ian to go and ride his bike. He did dig out his wind surfer though. Had a great outing one afternoon but was wondering why his feet were so numb straight from the start.. as he was getting weird looks from the coast guard crew. They informed Ian that the water temperature is around 10C/50F… when he kinda assumed that it must be at least 15C/60F… he he, right after this he crashed with style and decided that it’s time to pack up the show!
Rhona and me doing some epic hiking. Using Trailfinder app is the way to go .. do need to remember that not all the “moderate” trails are equal between Maine/Nova Scotia/Newfoundland. I guess what I am trying to say is that Maine “moderate difficulty” trail are a lot easier and gentle on you than Newfoundland ones, maybe because people who come to hike here … really do want to hike… and not just to go for a walk in the forest!?! I have scrambled through some paths on my hand and knees while Rhona looking back at me and wondering what is keeping me so long???? Doing 5 mile hike can take easily 2 hours… when I am seriously trying to go as fast as I can to keep up with Rhona.. ha ha! Great way of keeping my butt in shape!
