It has been difficult time for our family in few last months, imaginable sadness comes even when living the dream. Our angel Kaya was diagnosed with bone cancer few months back while we were still in Nova Scotia and the time came to say good bye while in Bonavista area. We were all swimming with her two days before in a beautiful lake and even on the day of, she ate half of Rhona’s breakfast. She crossed the Rainbow Bridge in peace with all of us hugging her.
We are all deeply heartbroken but life needs to go on. Rhona promised to keep the Newfoundland squirrels in check for Kaya too in the future!
Bonavista is a small village on a northern shore of Newfoundland. It was found by Italian dude called Giovanni Gaboto in 1497 and the place got its name from him saying” O Buon Vista” when he saw land after a trip from England on his ship Matthew. The Spanish, Portuguese, French and English all took the advantage on rich fishing and sealing grounds over hundreds of years. Today over 80 000 tourist visit this small village… us being one of them!
.. little Italian drama...
We visited the Matthew ship in a museum where they had life size replica of it. Very interesting to see. They have the same replica of the ship in Bristol UK where he started his voyage.
