Butter Pot Provincial Park
Heading back into the woods.. ha ha… not that Pippi Park Campground in St. John’s was bad… it was in the woods as well but lot of people in a big Campground, kinda….
One thing is good to know if you come to Newfoundland with your RV. The locals LOVE RV trailer camping… 90% of the spots in the campgrounds where we have been are filled with Newfoundland residents trailers for the summer months. Not that they are there and use them that much.. but come weekend and the buzz is on, or not! It has been little weird to follow it all as seriously all the RV spots are taken but no one around. They have their decks build around the trailer, bikes, sun chairs and canoes out and ready but no one around… ever!!!! This seen is on “Private campgrounds”, on Provincial and National Parks they do not have permanent buildings outside of the trailer… just carpets and very solid tents. August which is prime summer month here (schools go back in beginning of September) NO ONE around! You might get little uptick on Fridays to Sunday mornings but rest of the week… ghost towns!! I’m not complaining… we love it… all these big parks.. totally for us 3, rain or shine!!

From Butter Pot Provincial Park we moved back towards east on Avalon Peninsula to La Manche Provincial Park.
oh… little off shoot hike with Rhona on the way to Butter Pot… on this one I actually had to scale up and down a rock wall to keep going (first picture with the pen mark) . ha ha.. there were few people of the beach below and they were worried about Rhona making it????? Seriously… it was me who they should have been worried about! Rhona did Rhona.. ran up the wall and waited patiently for me to get my butt up the hill.
Next on the adventure list was “the Hearts” villages. Heart’s Delight, Heart’s Desire and Hearts Content villages. They are all on the north west side of the Avalon peninsula. They also have this most amazing green color water on the The Coish bay. We did what we do best… hiked and rode bikes… amazing week!
Green color of the sea water is caused by Phytoplankton that love the nutrition full cold Labrador current.
Hike close to town of Dildo
Around Newfoundland you will find hikes where the village has taken to their hearts to make the hike experience fun for everyone. To find a bench dedicated to villagers is a norm.
