Orr’s Island, Maine
Family time… as Ian was in California racing boats I had a good chance to have friends around and catch up with family. We decided to rent a house in Maine with Anita (BFF) back in February. It was pretty much like… close your eyes and point the map with your finger… when deciding where we get the house! None of us been in Maine before and we had no idea what we should look for or where ..well of course we needed to have water close by for the puppies to swim in and not hours away from Portland as people were flying in from Europe.
We lucked out and the house that we ended up was perfect for our purpose of chilling, eating, chilling, cycling and to have few restaurants close by. The house had tons of room for all of us and huge yard with no car traffic anywhere near by so the kids had great fun hunting outside all day and playing with the neighbors Golden. The beach was 3 min walk away. Yay!
The weather was the normal 2025 North America summer weather 85-95 F (29-35 C)and humid… Anita loved it and sat outside out of the wind and rest of us sat inside in cooler sea breeze. Thank goodness the nights were cooler so over all it was all perfect.
Our little rental house in Orr’s Is
Our” private” beach next to the house
Bailey Island that is just south of Orr’s Is. We cycled and hiked there most of the days. There are so many beautiful spots and places… there are not enough photos to justify it all.
Jussi, my brother from Barcelona came for a week.. yay..
.. I just had to put this picture here!! Lobster everywhere!!!
Jussi cooking dinner!! Just so darn amazing and simple with salad incredients straight out of the farm store stand! Truly, if you don’t like lobster, try Maine Lobster for giggles.. it is a totally different “animal” and delicious. Needs to be experienced at least once in a life time!!
Jussi and Anita.
We opted for soft shell Lobster as we had no tools to break the hard shell on hard shell lobster. We could not tell the taste difference between the two!
Apparently there is one?!?
Jussi about the pick the next lot of Lobsters for an other dinner.
For the West Coast peeps.. the price for” the straight out of the sea” lobster was $9 per pound.
Only the best for Jen!!
We hiked the Giant’s Stairs Trail on Bailey Island with Jen and the pups
Amazing Ice Age rock formations on the same hike
The Kids napping between daily adventures. Kaya has become so open and brave as not one day is alike. Rhona is as excited about EVERYTHING as always and they have become the best mates ever. Getting into good and goofy trouble side by side!
The Orr’s Island gang!!
Fantastic two weeks.. thank you so much my dear friends… shall never forget this one!
